Introducing the New Fodder-Flaker-Feeder by Robbco Designs and Bootsma LLC.
For the last couple years, Denzil Robbins has been trying to design a flaker for large square bales.
He had a number of customers ask for a feeder that did not process the hay, which was not offered
by the large companies that produced feeders. After hearing the horror stories of people nearly
dying after falling from a tractor while trying to make it to the trailer to feed, or the stories of the
calves that did not move for the operator-less tractor, he had an idea. It finally came to him on a
sleepless night in the early winter of 2006.
Within a couple weeks the first prototype flaker was in the field being test ran at the Komiza Ranch,
with only a couple minor setbacks. With the minor improvements, the Fodder Flaker Feeder was
out in the field running demonstrations all across Baker Valley for the remainder of the winter, until
a customer expressed an interest in purchasing our prototype feeder.
With that particular feeder sold, it pushed Denzil and Tom Bootsma into producing a few more
feeders, again with minor improvements, such as making the rollers adjustable, by simply pulling a
pin, for different size bales. With a newer model with the improvements needed, we again set out to
the field to test the product with flawless results. With the latest results on our newest feeder, we
are ready to send the Fodder Flaker Feeder to the field.
